Nokia expands Lumia experience to new price points and geographies
The new Nokia Lumia 610 is Nokia's fourth and most affordable Lumia
smartphone, designed as the perfect introduction to Windows Phone for a
younger audience. The Nokia Lumia 610 makes it easy to keep in touch
with friends, providing instant access to social networks and bringing
all mobile, email, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn contacts into one
place. It also makes it easier to browse the Web with Internet Explorer
and to access games through Xbox Live.
Available with Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, Nokia Transport and Nokia
Music, people can also choose from thousands of apps in the Windows
Phone Marketplace to further personalize the experience.
With a distinctive profile and finely beveled metallic edges, the Nokia Lumia 610 is built to convey both quality and aspiration. It comes in white, cyan, magenta and black, is priced at EUR189 and is expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2012.

The Nokia Lumia 610
was made possible thanks to a new software release from Microsoft
delivering enhanced capabilities to the Windows Phone 7.5 platform. The
software release, available from April optimizes Windows Phone to
support lower memory and processor requirements, while still delivering
the same great experience for more affordable products. In addition,
Windows Phone will now include the network and language requirements for
China. As a result, Nokia announced plans to make a range of Lumia
smartphones available in China, covering both CDMA and WCDMA
technologies, in the coming months.
After launching the Nokia Lumia 900
as its first LTE smartphone, Nokia is also making the phone available
around the world in a DC-HSPA variant, for high speed data connection (42Mbits download)
in countries where LTE is not available. The Nokia Lumia 900 features a
4.3 inch ClearBlack AMOLED display for a superior touch and viewing
experience. It also features Nokia's highest capacity battery
making it the perfect Lumia phone for enjoying media and entertainment
on the move. The primary camera on the Nokia Lumia 900 has exclusive
Carl Zeiss optics, a large aperture for improved performance in low
light conditions and wide angle focal length for capturing full 16:9 images.
It is also the first Lumia phone to feature a front-facing camera,
with large aperture and wide-angle lens for sharp, bright images and
video calling out of the box.
The Nokia Lumia 900 will be available in white, cyan and black, is priced at EUR 480 and also expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2012

The Lumia range will also benefit from the launch of new signature Nokia experiences on the Windows Phone platform:
Nokia Reading is the next milestone in Nokia's strategy to offer a comprehensive entertainment experience on Lumia.
Nokia Reading provides a single, integrated hub experience, leveraging a
panorama design to make it easier and faster to enjoy news, ebooks and
audio books, including the ability to access content offline and pin
dynamic content to the start screen as a Live Tile. With an emphasis on
local language materials wherever it becomes available, Nokia Reading
delivers a highly personalized and locally relevant service. Future
updates will include the ability to build dynamic magazines from feeds
for a single integrated view of favourite online content. With no
sign-in or subscriptions, Nokia Reading will be available from April.
Nokia Transport, coming to Lumia for the first time, provides
convenient door-to-door, underground, tram, suburban train, and bus
directions for over 500 cities across 46 countries. With step-by-step
directions to the nearest station as well as timetable information on
when the next bus or train is arriving for more than 80 cities, Nokia Transport will be available to download from the Windows Phone Marketplace in March.
A new update to Nokia Drive,
the free voice-guided, turn by turn navigation app that turns any Lumia
smartphone into a personal navigation device will provide full offline
use and features speed limit alerts. The update will also be available
to download from the Windows Phone Marketplace in March
Samsung announces Galaxy Beam smartphone with built-in projector
When the name Samsung Galaxy Beam is mentioned,
what comes to mind? If you were thinking about an Android smartphone
with a built-in projector, then yes you would be right on the money! The
device will sport an ultra-bright 15 lumens fully built-in projector
that Samsung claims will allow for use even in outdoor environments, and
if you’re the type that needs to make presentations on the go, then
perhaps the Samsung Galaxy Beam might be a device worth your
consideration.
The device will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread preinstalled along
with a 2,000mAh battery. Interestingly the Samsung Galaxy Beam measures
12.5mm thick, which while not exactly slim by today’s standards, is
somewhat impressive given that it packs a full built-in projector. The
projector will be able to project displays of up to 50” wide, and will
come with an accompanying projector-dedicated app to allow for easy
selection of content and projection.
As far as the rest of its hardware is concerned, the Samsung Galaxy Beam will sport a 4” 480×800 WVGA TFT display, with a 1GHz dual-core
processor under its hood, 768MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage that
can be expanded by an additional 32GB via microSD card. It will also
feature a 5MP rear-facing camera with built-in flash, a 1.3MP
front-facing camera and will be able to record/playback videos in 720p
HD quality at 30fps.
Unfortunately Samsung did not mention as to when the Galaxy Beam will
be seeing a launch, nor how much it will cost, but check back with us
as we’ll keep you updated!

BlackBerry SmartPhone Torch 2
GSM Codename: Torch2? Talledaga 2? ; CDMA: no word on a CDMA Torch yet
Yes, this is really what the first Torch should have been. Not dwelling on the past, the Torch 2 gets a much-needed upgrade to RIM's newest hardware platform, and will be rocking essentially twice the CPU speed of the first Torch. We still haven't had any concrete word of a CDMA version of the Torch coming up the pipe, though we do know there are a lot of CDMA BlackBerry fans out there who wish there was one. It's interesting to note these initial Torch 2 specs list the RAM at 512MB, but we may see that get bumped up by the time it's officially released given that the Bold Touch and new full-touchscreen BlackBerry will be rocking 768MB (could be CDMA devices requires 768MB as GSM can get away with 512MB - time will tell). The specs on the Torch 2 at the time of this posting are not quite as fully detailed as some of the other devices in this roundup, but hopefully we'll see it launch with the same sort of capabilities as the Bold Touch and new full touchscreen (full out sensors, HD video recording, etc.).
BlackBerry Torch 2 Key Specs:
- Processor: 1.2 GHz processor
- Radio: Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE ; Tri-band HSPA 14.4Mbps
- Display: 3.2" VGA - 480 x 640 capacitive touchscreen display
- Memory: 8GB storage + 512MB RAM + up to 32GB MicroSD
- Connectivity: WiFi + Bluetooth + NFC
- Camera: 5 MP
- Battery: 1300MAh battery
- Dimension: 14.6mm thick
- Sensors: magnetometer
5 Things That Make the SmartPhone HTC One X Unique
Did we mention it’s
powerful?
What does a 1.5Ghz
quad-core chipset with four high-performance CPU cores give you? Powerful
multi-tasking. Enjoy smooth, quick-to-respond game, web and video downloads.
A camera so good, you might need a reminder that it’s also a
phone
This is a true digital camera
on your phone. It easily handles low light settings and turns action shots into
crisp photos, thanks to the HTC ImageChip. Always Focus and Continuous Shooting
means you won’t ever miss a shot again. You can even snap a picture while
shooting HD video.
Music, the way it was originally recorded
With Beats Audio, listening is
different. It's a deep, finely-detailed sound; the actual sound the artist
hears in the recording studio--and what they want you to hear.
A big screen for a great show
You’ll get amazing clarity,
vivid detail and enhanced color range. And with just one swipe, movies go
wirelessly from your phone to a wide-screen TV.
Designed with you in mind
Your sophisticated taste
deserves a sophisticated design. So the screen is rounded for smooth edges and
the thin case is sleek and stylish—yet sturdy as ever.
NOKIA 808 PureView ...SmartPhone ??
How good can a pixel
be? With its
groundbreaking 41 MP image quality, Carl Zeiss lens, and PureView imaging
technology, you’ll take the best photos ever with a smartphone. For example,
when you want a 5 MP photo, PureView packs the goodness of 7 pixels into 1 for
sharp, clear, and ready to share photos.
HDvideo. Film in high
definition and hi-fi. There’s 1080p Full HD video recording with up to 4 x
lossless zoom that’s smooth and completely silent. And it’s the world’s first
device to include Rich Recording. This combines a unique digital microphone and
Nokia algorithms to record distortion-free audio at levels of up to 140 dB.
Zoom and zoom again. Zoom closer and react faster. The camera activates in less than a second so it's ready to shoot when you need. You can zoom as fast as your finger up to 3 times as close with zero loss of detail. PureView can even shoot smooth Full HD video at 30 frames per second at 4 times zoom.
Don’t
be afraid of the dark. The drama of the darkness
is always a photographic challenge. However, in addition to the Carl Zeiss lens
and 41 MP sensor, the Nokia 808 PureView gives you a powerful Xenon flash and
LED video light so you’re ready for spontaneous moments when spirits are high
and the lights are low.
A smart
smartphone. Give the world a
different perspective on everyday life – you have creative control. With the
intelligent gallery, sharing is easy too. Send photos or videos straight to
Facebook or Flickr in the perfect file size or tap to another phone using NFC.
Or hook up to an HD TV via HDMI or wireless streaming for a real big screen
showing.
ASUS Reveals Padfone Specifications
ASUS lifted the
veil over its long-awaited redesigned 9.2mm thin Padfone at the MWC. Sporting a
4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD display, Snapdragon S4 with the new Adreno 225 GPU,
and 8MP camera with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture, as well as 16-64GB of
internal storage plus microSD slot, it has what we would expect from a modern
high-end. Connectivity is taken care of 42Mbps HSPA+ radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
4.0, HDMI and A-GPS, while a 1,520mAh battery unit is included as a juicer. The
Padfone can get inserted into an optional tablet frame, whose 10.1" screen
then gets powered by the phone itself, and can extend your battery life
significantly. There is another dock, which allows you to add a detachable
keyboard accessory, like on the Transformer Pad series. This one also comes
with a stylus that except for doodling can be used to receive your phone calls
as well, considering that the phone is inserted in the mothership.
